The main focus of this release is upgrading to Elastic 8.17.3!
Due to the Elastic upgrade, we highly recommend testing the upgrade on a test deployment before attempting to upgrade your production deployment.
Active Query Management for Pro Customers
This release also includes a new feature for Security Onion Pro customers! If you have a valid Pro license, you will be able to access the new Active Query Management screen. This allows you to see and manage active Elasticsearch queries!

Alerts Advanced Interface
SOC Alerts has an advanced interface that provides more data similar to SOC Dashboards. You can now permanently enable that advanced interface using the toggle under the Options menu.
Improved SOC Configuration Interface
Our SOC Configuration interface is now even easier to use, especially for config items like Actions, Dashboard queries, and Hunt queries.
Additional Zeek Parsers
This release includes support for some additional Zeek logs for protocol metadata like NTP and LDAP.

Existing 2.4 Installations
If you have an existing Security Onion 2.4 installation, you can update to the latest version using soup:

Before updating your production deployment, we highly recommend testing the upgrade process on a test deployment that closely matches your production deployment if possible. This is especially important for releases that update components like Salt and Elastic.
